On a paid plan you can serve your site on your own domain, like www.yourbusiness.com, instead of the Forgelo subdomain.
Before you start
- You need a domain registered with any registrar (Namecheap, GoDaddy, Niagahoster, Cloudflare, and so on). The domain always stays registered to you.
- Custom domains are available on Starter and up. Starter includes one custom domain across your account; Pro and Business remove that cap.
- Your site should already be published.
Steps
- Open your project in the editor and find the Domains section.
- Enter your domain, for example yourbusiness.com or www.yourbusiness.com, and click Add.
- Forgelo registers the domain with our hosting layer and shows you the exact DNS records to create, typically an A record for the root domain or a CNAME for the www subdomain.
- Log in to your registrar's DNS settings and add the records exactly as shown.
- Back in Forgelo, click Verify. Once DNS has propagated, the status changes to verified and your site is served on your domain with SSL issued automatically.
How long does it take?
DNS changes usually propagate within minutes, but can take up to 24 to 48 hours depending on your registrar and previous settings. The Verify button can be clicked as often as you like.
Removing a domain
You can remove a connected domain at any time in the same panel. This frees the slot on Starter's one-domain limit.
