Most custom domain problems are DNS records that do not match the instructions exactly. Work through this list in order.
1. Compare the records character by character
Open the Domains section in the editor and compare what Forgelo asks for with what is actually saved at your registrar. Common mistakes:
- The record was added for the wrong host, for example www when you connected the root domain, or the other way around.
- An old A record or CNAME from previous hosting is still there and conflicts with the new one. Delete leftovers.
- A typo in the record value.
2. Check for a proxy
If your DNS is managed by Cloudflare, set the record to DNS only (grey cloud) while verifying. A proxied record can prevent verification and certificate issuance.
3. Give propagation time
DNS changes can take from a few minutes up to 24 to 48 hours. You can check propagation with a tool like dnschecker.org: enter your domain and confirm the record points where Forgelo asked.
4. Click Verify again
Verification is checked when you press the Verify button. After fixing records, click it again. There is no penalty for retrying.
5. Still stuck?
Email support with your domain name and a screenshot of your DNS settings at the registrar. We can see the exact reason verification is failing and reply with the specific fix.
